How to pull off the perfect proposal..

Monday, January 18, 2016

Valentine's Day is quickly approaching, and so is the chance to pop the question! Of course it isn't as simple as it sounds so we're here to put some of your worries at rest with these tips to pull off the perfect 'stress-free' engagement proposal.

1. Select a location special to you
Sharing your proposal location with another big milestone in your relationship is the best place to start, as this will not only create more memories but you will find yourself reminiscing about the start of your adventure together. Start remembering where you had your first kiss, date or said 'I love you' for the first time and you're there. Adding music is a bonus so if you have a song special - don't question it, just add it!

 2. Include friends and family
Including your friends and family in this special personal moment will blow her away, not to mention you can rely on them for a little help like keeping her a little busy on that special day or run errands while you prepare. Invite them all to congratulate you both after the private proposal, it's the best of both worlds as you get your private proposal and then you also get to celebrate big with all your family around you.

3.  Hire a photographer
You'll want to relish the memories of this special day, and what a better way to do it than hiring a professional photographer to take pictures of you both. Or even better, record videos of you asking for permission from one of her parents or get someone to record you getting ready for this proposal, the more personal and unique, the better!

4. If the ring fits..
There is a lot of pressure on you to pick the right ring, so the best advice we could give you is spy on her style, pick up little things she likes and doesn't like along the way. Ask a sibling or best friend to snoop in for you, or simply see which ring she tends to wear most, bring it a jewellery shop and ask for help, this is also the easiest way to size a ring without her being there. Any jewellery shop will be able to sit down with you and help you pick the right ring, it will take time so allow up to 2 months before the proposal and don't leave anything to chance!

5.  The right time
Doing it earlier in the day will give you more time to celebrate and enjoy your new engagement with the company of others, not to mention you will have daylight to take pictures! Instead of proposing at the end of the night, do it early so she has enough time to show off her ring for an entire day.

6. Speak from the heart
You could plan the greatest proposal of all time, but it's the words that will make her tear up and remember this day forever. Start with writing a list of all the things you love about her, and don't forget to mention how happy she makes you, point out little things that she does and tell her when you knew she was the one. See all the things that you want to say and add in future plans with her.
Don't read word for word but just have a clear idea of the right things to say, we don't want you to sound robotic!

7. Everyone is different..
The beauty of proposals is that every single relationship is different from the next, so whether you are proposing at home, at a fancy restaurant, somewhere special or abroad - make it special and make it count. Have traditions that only apply to your relationship and make things as personal as you can, she will love you for it.

Proposing is difficult, but it will all be worth it when you see the smile on both of your faces. Remember to keep your head above water and breathe - take your time and you'll have no problems pulling it off.

Good Luck!
